Marina Kornati is situated in the western part of Biograd na moru, very close to archipelgo Kornati. In 1974 Hotelska luka Kornati was built, which was at the time the first nautical harbour on the Adriatic from which the nautical tourism started to develop on the whole Adriatic coast while at the same time the city Biograd became the crib of nautical tourism. Hotelska luka Kornati has soon become too small for all sailors and boaters so the expanded version of Marina Kornati was built in 1985 in the western part of Biograd with 450 additional embroideries. Sea surface of the Marina Kornati is 91 912 m2 while the mainland surface is 39 688 m2. On the sea surface of this marina there are held over 40 national and international regattas which include the participation of 10 000 sailors from all over the world. That is why Biograd na moru and Marina Kornati can be called nautical and regatta center of Northern Dalmatia.
