City Split is situated in Dalmatia, on the Dalmatian coast and it represents the center of southern Croatia being at the same time the biggest city on the south. This city is from all sides surrounded with mountains – mountain Mosor on the north and north-east, hill Kozjak on the north-west, hill Perun on the east, while the old part of the city, its center, is situated at the foot of the hill Marjan. According to the last list of inhabitants in Croatia, Split is the second biggest city with its 180 000 inhabitants. Split is also the tourist center of southern Croatia due to the islands which surround this city – Hvar, Brač, Šolta, Vis – so it stands high at the top of Croatian tourism. Traffic in southern Croatia is also happening mostly in Split and its surroundings. Ferry port Split marks the increase in traffic every year and so does the Split airport. Traffic connection of Split with the rest of Europe is excellent – there are direct lines with Italy from the ferry port while the largest number of visitors come to Split through the airport. The center of the city has many cultural monuments which we recommend to see, just as the Dioklecijan's palace from 4th century which is under protection of UNESCO since 1979. If you come to Split by airplane or from national parks in its surroundings we certainly recommend our Holiday transfers service which will comfortably take you to the city at the friendliest price on the taxi market, the only thing you need to do is fill in the transfer reservation on our official taxi webpage.
